#1 Trouble contacting Restorer

Post by Simonpfhc » Wed Sep 29, 2021 9:38 am

Hi all,

Has anyone on the forum had any contact with Chris Forbes at CFS Motors recently? I only ask as I have a colleague who has an Etype with him for restoration and has been trying for the last three months without success to get any response. Apparently tried phone and email.

Thanks

Three months is way too long for any form of contact even during these strange times. Sounds dodgy to me. Go visit ASAP.

Thanks for all the responses so far. I’d already given him the advice that he needs to get up to Coventry ASAP.

I’ll also pass on that Andrew has offered his ‘boys’ to assist if needed

I was just checking in case the owner, Chris had become unwell or maybe having business problems.

Cheers all.

Hi Simon,
Chris had my E Type early in September for a head rebuild. Certainly all was well, although he was extremely busy. I am sure if you keep trying you will find everything is fine.

Thanks Simon. I’ll pass that news on. I thought that would be the case.

Still don’t understand why the guy hasn’t heard from him for so long though.

Cheers.

Hi Simon,
Chris did most of the mechanical/ electrical work on my E and Is in my opinion one of the best. He has been in business for a long time, is very hands on and always busy, sometimes at the expense of communication!
He is a top bloke though and has helped me out a number of times.
I would just keep trying by phone.
Kind regards
Simon

Hi Peter,

Just checked and no PM from you??

Really appreciate your kind offer for taking a look. I don’t have the car particulars but can ask the owner.

I’ll PM you with the details - send you a quick PM test to check it gets through.......

Cheers.

I’m pleased to say Chris is live and well just buried in work...I’ve never seen so many XK 120/40/50’s in a garage before.
Beautiful lavender S3 on one ramp getting the full treatment. Very nice red S2 OTS in the yard.
Sadly no GB for me ...ho hum!!

Steve

You should be able to tell what people are thinking. :banghead:

Why type gearbox when you can type GB?

I’m not likely to find the breadbox ,sorry gearbox, I want on this forum, unless anyone has an eight speed double overdrive can-bus controlled GB in there garage?,!
The problem is getting the front prop shaft to the front wheels through /past the sump, and the diff ahead of the CS pulley is very tight?
If I can allow the IRS and RD and centre GB to reach the FD then the DS will clear the UJ’s without too many problems assuming the UJ’s on the end of the FDS’s will clear the FSA.
If they do problem solved!!

It is just poor or lazy use of English Steve. If someone wants to a abbreviate a word they should follow convention and use lower case letters - gbox, box or gb would have been appropriate as GB is accepted convention for Great Britain. On the other hand spell checker is likely to change those lower case 'gb' letters to upper case automatically as it does understand convention!
