Carburettor choke levers

Could anyone please help me with the SU part numbers for the 3 brass choke levers fitted to the etype SU carburettors.

I know one of the parts is AUC 2035 as a member had a broken one on the forum which I saw pictured here. I am not sure which carb it related to though; F, M or Back.

The centre one has two holes I believe so this could well be AUC 2035. The Front and Rear carbs seem to have a single hole at the bottom so presumably could be the same part number as each other.

The Burlen site lists a lot of different levers but does not specify their use particularly well other than generically.

Chris the long and the short of this is that about the only way to find this info would be to ring Burlen.

I would be inclined to repair this lever - not yours though ?
SU levers are fixed to their shafts with a tapered steel pin which can be difficult to remove without damage. Plus the lever and shaft have to be lined up correctly so some sort of small jig will need making up - not too difficult but needs to be mentioned. Also the hole alignment is unique to that lever and shaft (ie they were drilled together) This makes it difficult to align a new lever (undrilled) with the original shaft and expect to get your pin to line up. In fact you may need further parts to complete the assembly. Ask me how I know this.
I would find a donor lever and solder (silver solder preferably) a new end on the existing lever - this is a choke linkage so not safety critical part.

I can see that it is not a simple bolt up task.

I think it will be best to remove the whole assembly and take it to Burlen and work out what is needed.

Hello Chris, just making sure you know what needs to be changed - in the photo you supplied is the jet lifter from the centre carb there are 3 of these and they are all different for the triple HD8 set .It is not worth trying to alter the XJ6/MK10 items by finding the levers, shafts etc for a start you are unlikely to be successful and it is a difficult job to get right. We used to do it many years ago when these assemblies could not be bought . Burlen supply the built up assembly with the differences for each carb fitment and they fit using the 4 long screws through the float bowl and up into the body of the carb .I think they were about £110 last time I bought some and that is each. As Andrew says the body must have the drilling for the rod/shoe and if it does have it you are fine to use the body for an E-type application. You will need the bracket and rods for the linkage but these are available from Barratts now (we used to make all these parts ourselves at one time) The dashpot as I have already mentioned is the same on HS8 but hardly any of the rest of an HS8 carb is useful to you.
Expect a big bill if you leave your carb assembly with Burlen !

I assume the part the OP Chris was looking for is #16 'Jet Housing Assembly' AUC8655 (F & R) and AUC8654 (C)?

I really cannot thank you guys enough. The joint knowledge is outstanding. Hopefully this thread will become useful to others as well.

I will post up what I have with pics of the carb undersides to see what is missing. There are unsurprisingly very few pics of a fully built set of carbs online taken with the choke assemblies as the focus. Hopefully if I detail this side it could be further useful.

I am still thinking my centre carb is correct and the corrections are required to front and rear.

I am also cross that my float chamber covers won't have the blanked hole. Another point that would be noticed by the keen eye. I guess it's another part I can look out for at auto jumbles.

FYI, David has not retired yet.

He postponed his retirement until end of the year (2022).

At least this is the news I got in November.
