#1 e type valuation

Post by Arlo » Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:28 am

Help!!
I have inherited an e-type, first registered in1970.
It has been sitting in an outhouse for the last 40 years and is a major restoration project.
Or needs to be sold for spares.
I need to find it a good home but I need to put a realistic price on it.
How do I go about getting it valued?
I really need help with this!!

Hi......in my opinion it would be best put on ebay on auction.....most important do you have the registration documents......this would increase its value....Steve

If it's a 2+2, I doubt if any restorer would get his money back at the end. Salvageable spares is probably the best option I would have thought.

I only fit in a 2+2, so got one!

:yeahthat: I am afraid that this looks rather too far gone to be an economic restoration project, particularly as S2 2+2s are probably the hardest cars to sell

Looks like a S2......but not a 2+2......the panel in front of the windscreen is too wide....the S2 2+2 bonnet comes up very close to windscreen.........Steve......

If its a coupe RHD with docs £25K I'd say if 2+2 £16K - but photos too small and I cannot open them larger - The car would need a restorable bodyshell.

Now you have to get that money ! Not as easy as you think.

Ah, yes, Steve, you are correct. Curious, though , that it should be 1970 registered and not an S2

Isn’t it an S2? Looks like one in the photo on the back of the lorry, although the photo is very poor and tiny. In the condition I would have thought more like 15k, maybe 20k if very lucky.

It's very peculiar, because I think Steve is correct about its not having the S2 windscreen which goes far forward in the centre, and yet as you say ( although the pic is very small ) the rear end looks like an S2. Could be a bitsa car which only makes things worse

Just to confirm...i think this is a S2 fhc......and not a 2+2........the scuttle panel in front of the windscreen is much wider than on a S2 2+2...and looks like 3 wipers...... also you can see the clutch/brake and expansion reservoirs on right hand bulkhead.....Steve
