Hi...think your unlucky...never seen one....however if you go to the welcom section tell us your name and a bit about your project you will get lots of help.....but i would recomend that you start studying the wireing diagram and learn how to use a basic multimeter.....you will need some basics to rewire your car....all tne besg.. Check out the Forum Knowledge Base as the Technical info thread has lots of wiring details. e.g.

S1 Harness layout: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/q ... layout.jpg
S1 4.2 wiring diagram: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8496016/E-Type%2042wiring.pdf
S1 4.2 colour wiring diagram (Andrew Day): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/627 ... %20ACD.bmp
S1 4.2 Colour Wiring Diagram (by Bill Molloy): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8496016/S1%20wi ... Colour.jpg

Hello Aidan, I assume it's Aidan, I am in the same position as you with a new Autosparks loom and woefully inadequate pictures of the old loom I removed several years ago. The links David posted are quite helpful as are pictures in Chrisvine's blog on here. If you search Jag Lovers there are more pics on there. What I struggled to find though were detailed pics or diagrams for the actual routing of the various looms and where they joined or terminated. The two side looms front to back being a good example.

Ski run diagrams and the colour of each squiggly line meant nothing to me, the first time my ex-Jag friend and I donned hired skis and boots in Annecy. Skiing looked like it might be fun and because it was expensive buying a one-day ticket we chose the long black squiggle instead of the short blue one, so we'd get better value for money. Attempting to ski without having a clue about those diagrams nearly killed us.

The other people waiting in the lift line must have thought we were foolish to attempting a black run, especially when we knocked some of them over because we could barely stand on our skis. I think some of them tried to warn us but we just smiled politely and had no idea what we were about to face.

Long story short, we fell constantly and were very lucky to get out of that situation with our lives and finances intact. You may be plucky or lucky but could need to be both.

Black lines lead straight to earth, blue ones are neutral.

Or am I the one who turns blue runs into off-piste at every corner!

Hi aidanc?,

I don’t know of any pictorial step by step wiring instructions for the E-Type, most people want pictures of the wiring lay out, not how things are wired.
Andrew Honeychurch who used to be (is?) on this site posted lots of pictures of the layout, but sadly the links no longer work.

Lucas wiring is quite easy; it is all colour coded: http://www.peterrenn.co.uk/archive4.html

Once you have the loom where you want it, search for the device you want to wire up in the wiring diagram and take it from there.

If you need pictures of any specific area or item then we will try to help.

USED to be on this site! Huh, still very much here. Let me see if I can get the link working again. The pictures are however for a 3.8 RHD car but should be very useful.....

Sorry Andrew; I didn't realise it was you :-)

I Knew yours was a 3.8, but I think in the main the wiring is the same.

Your photos were a great help to me, especially the routing behind the dash.

I would have struggled with out them, so a big thanks.

oh very glad they are of use. I am about to use them for my 4.2 wiring which I aim to start later in the week all being well. Think they should be very accurate for the internal wiring but will be different around the engine frames being a 4.2, but I think it should be straightforward to work out. I am just hoping that I have the correct brand new loom as there were a few changes on the 4.2 not least the movement of the horns to the front frame from within the bonnet.

Hi Andrew,

Just looking through the various topics on the routing of the wiring loom for a S1, 4.2 E-Type and came across your post which gave a link to photos. I tried the link but on Photobucket, it says the Album is "private" and I therefore cannot see your photos.

Is there anyway I can access your photos please :helpsign:

Many thanks and kind regards,

Try it now George. It says its public now. Bear in mind its for a series one 3.8 but a lot will be identical.

Hi Andrew,

Many thanks for your speedy reply. I still cannot see the photos. I have subscribed to the trial version of Photobucket but it still says your album is private. I'm not that familiar with Photobucket so I am likely maling mistakes but I cannot see any way of viewing your album. Any suggestions? Another link perhaps?

Really grateful for your help.

Yours aye,

Hi Andrew, FYI I also tried to use your link and all it did was take me to the photo bucket home page.

Ok chaps. I shall take another look at it. It’s been a while since I posted it and PB have changed all their protocols of use. They probably want to charge me to make albums public now !! I will investigate
