PPF comes to mind but there may be other solutions by guys who had similar experiences.

Automotive stone guard paint is another suggestion. Heavy duty paint that can be overpainted to match the rest of the car.

Don't know what PPF is but a good quality sound deadening material like dynamat or a pertroleum based one would do the job. Use a High strength spray glue. 3M makes one for use on formica counter construction... that is very good.

PPF is Paint Protection Film, it is transparent and durable. 3M make a good product for that purpose.

Were it me that's what I would be doing.

No, the paint protection films most certainly don't stop stone dents from being formed. They are best (and well) suited for the top side of the car to protect the paint against minor abrasions, rock chips, and similar. For stone dent protection you need something that can absorb energy, like the aforementioned neoprene sheet. I've used that on my Lotus vehicles over the years to prevent star cracks in the glass fiber above the front wheels. I would not get too carried away on the adhesive as you want to be able to replace the material without having to resort to violence to get it removed and cleaned up. I believe I used 3M 77 spray adhesive the last time I applied neoprene to my Elan.

thank you all for good input, i will look more into neopren and glue that in place.

when the car is newly renovated its a pity to have dents that crack the paint from underneath.

Best regards john
