Hi
My Nov 63 is 889504 and the numbers around it are also similar build dates. Your chassis number suggests it is earlier and not later than mine, but I guess that from looking at xkedata, they didn’t use the chassis numbers in any particular order or had different number batches for lhd and RHD, ots or fhc cars? I seem to remember it’s the latter.

Hi Richard
I can't remember where I got this from but I've just stumbled across it. Apologies to JDHT if they object to posting it here.
It's a bit difficult to figure out at first glance but it tells us that the first LHD FHC built in 1964, for instance, was chassis 889752, which is about 250 similar cars later than yours. Mine is 888007 and was built December 28th 1962.

Regards

Yes, that explains the number ‘batching’ approach. Thanks.

My point is that cars beginng with 86 are rhd fhc's. 861775 is near the end of 3.8's so has to be a 64 model. Mine is 861460 and was made in Jan 64.

Hi Randall, sorry for the late reply. You are correct and my car was first registered on 12 August 1964.
