Quick question about the breather hose on the expansion tank. I didn't take enough pics when taking the fuel tank out but seem to remember that the breather from the expansion tank went through the rear of the boot into the N/S IRS area via a grommet and then just terminated to atmosphere. Is this correct?
Thanks, Colin.

Colin, that sounds correct. In my application, ('72 V12) the line extends to the engine bay and feeds the gas through a charcoal canister (which you don't have)

Colin : what spec is your car ? I ask because I have never even heard of a fuel expansion tank on UK cars, and there is certainly no part of that nature shown in the factory parts guide . The only vent pipe of which I am aware is the pipe which vents the tank back into the fuel filler Part number C15150

The evaporative cannister connections are documented on page 65 of the tan coloured US Owners Manual booklet for the v12 cars. I'm pretty sure you'll find the relevant diagram already posted somewhere either on this forum or on jag-lovers.com Connections A, B and C go the fuel tank and D goes to the adsorbtion cannister which vents to the inlet manifold via the vacuum system.

Chris, that’s interesting. Mine’s an original US spec car converted by a PO about 30 yrs ago. I just assumed all later S2 cars had the expansion tank as SNG and Robeys both show them in their pics. The tank I ordered from SNG came with all the relevant tappings, and that was just a galv S2 tank for cars from 1R1068. Anyway, I definitely don’t have the charcoal canister setup that US spec cars seem to have, so I’ll just have to vent to atmosphere as it was previously. My filler neck is also plain, not tapped for a hose.
On a separate note, what do you guys think is best to seal the sump to tank connection, as I am not sure I trust a plain rubber washer?
Cheers, Colin.
