Gerry just hold on for a couple more days and will dedicate the reaction plate to one post!
Today was a jaguar classic story.
All I wanted to do today was drain the antifreeze so I could take the carbs and intake side out.
But the new Ron Davis radiator drain plug was so tight it stripped the inverted Plug!!!
So now everything had to come out and antifreeze was all over
Tomorrow we tackle the intake
Since my whole family is 300 pounds it’s hard keeping my 195
So even slender working day after day on the cars my hands swelled up and killing me so tomorrow I will be back in the groove!👍🏾
Damn fat Italians❤️
Ps all the nuts and bolts for the header tank, rad support we’re all 1/2
Tomorrow we start fresh after 2 hours clean up of the barn floor👍🏾

I removed the entire set up in one shot!
Again Thanks to the initial grunt work a year ago from Team CJ this would never have been so easy.
All nuts are half inch
Heater hose
Rad hose
Temp sending unit wire
Oil pressure sending unit wire
Dizzy connections and my special blow by rubber hose which cannot rattle or crack like the original set up!
Tomorrow will be Torsion bars reaction plate only!
Let’s see how that goes….
Enjoy

It’s a series 2 !
All the big places have them
If you want a system that REALLY works
But you cover the glorious manifolds
Use series 2 manifolds with the bolt down and use a series 3 xj6 fuel injected shield
It works wonders
Back to the pain……
The torsion bars are a real bear.
Like last time I tried to release the sway bar link and shock to drop enough but no good
So I have to take the end link and break the upper ball joint to free up the top bolts!’
This job I hate….
I broke so many things today that I’m just going to rest a couple of days!
It will get done
Pics to follow!

Joey, we just get worn out reading about the energy you’re putting into this work to have any energy left ourselves to write much
I’m waiting for your expenditure/benefit thesis as well

Convert my E-Type to electric? It’ll be a cold day in hell before that happens. I want the noise and the smells that only a beautifully designed petrol engine can deliver.
However, I am constantly looking in my rear view mirror when driving it - not because I’m watching out for the ‘old bill’, but to make sure Greta Thunberg isn’t chasing me with a baseball bat.

Like most, I am reading these posts with great interest. Not that I'll be upgrading to a five speed any time soon, but I may have to follow these procedures to, say, change a clutch or rebuild an engine. I am not the only one filing all we are learning in my own personal database of 'how to get stuff done'.

Also, like others, I was out driving over the weekend.

Great to hear, kids came in from Colorado and will have a trick way of releasing the reaction plate.
After that , it should all drop out like BUTTA.

Joey,
I have found the reaction plate can be difficult to remove unless you slide the whole engine and gearbox forward an inch or 2 to create some clearance.

Then its easy.

Same when refitting it. If the engine and gearbox are too far back, you will be whacking everything with hammers for ages with no result.

Hi Joey, I had my 5 speed done by a shop here in the UK as my restorers did my clutch incorrectly and since the repair required engine out I had them fit a 5 speed box and convert to alternator negative earth as well as a few other essential small mechanical jobs missed by the restorers like restoring the steering rack which wasn't carried out during restoration. I later my self upgraded the front brakes to 4 pot calipers and vented rotors and fitted an ignition relay to keep my key cool....still have to sort out my horn issue....but the car itself now drives like a champ for a 1962 3.8.

Thank you guys.....I completely restored it all the last 2 years
quick rack
zeus brakes vented
123 ignition
NEW SNG control arms and everything else.
I will release the bolts once the tie rod and upper ball joint are released.
Its more work but my torsion bar setting was at perfect height.
Lets see, the kids are in with the wives. I should be back on it by the weekend
Thanks for all the suggestions,
