I always heard that the bolts just tap out with slight reverse pressure.
That’s never worked for me.
I want to sum up this step…..
It’s a total pain in the ask!
As I dreaded I raised both wheels then removed wheels
Broke both upper ball joints and tie rod ends with another support under the hub.
By breaking that pressure I was able to just slide the bolts back and forth
Then pound out the plate with the hammer.
Disclaimer ……..
I never suggest how to support or raise the car.
I get crazy as you will see I use 6 jacks plus the flat ramp plus a picture of Jesus on the wall just in case!
I’m having fun but if your not into blocking everything else out of your mind
Leave this to some one else
Now the fun begins
By tomorrow the engine should be stripped to be dropped😀👍🏾

Joey,

Thanks for posting your step by step process.

Is your rear main always so clean? What type of rear main seal are you running?

Also, as the front suspension is loose, I would suggest this is a good time to fit the adjustable (eccentric) upper front fulcrum shaft (from Terry's Jaguar, perhaps others) to permit dialing in more negative camber if you are so inclined. (Pun is just a happy accident)

Thx Joey, four stands on the ground look interesting,I managed to get the passenger side bolts out using the tapered punch (drift) method, driver side not a chance, had to break all the joints so the lower control arm(wishbone) could swing down.Reassembled the drivers side so that the car can sit on all four wheels when I drop engine and transmission,I have the same four post lift as you Joey, having driven my car for 31yrs with the built in rust proofing system,I had a dirty oily mess to deal with under there, definitely the reaction plate from hell

Congrads for moving up a stage.....as long as you don't lose the sense of humor in the process

Thanks guys……
Remember I completely rebuilt everything over the last 2 years.
That’s 9,000 miles in a year👍🏾
The underneath is bone dry due to the cut crank and modern seal and a check to Classic Jaguar for a nice amount😀
After the reaction plate everything is just peeling off
I’m going with the Rob Beeres bleed kit for the clutch.
His rear end kit is the best and the pulley kit!
With the pump out again has anyone gone aluminum?
Is there a high column water pump?
More to come!
Ask away!

Remember the lift went up and down other that the front arms
The jacks were for extra mental ease

Recap before we tackle the interior today.
After the Reaction plate
The oil filter housing along with the clutch line ,oil temp wire are all cleared for engine removal.
Today we take the center console
Take a break then take the prop shaft bolts out, push back the shaft from tail of transmission
Then next weekend we drop everything out
More pics to come today hopefully

Radio stack. 2 screws
Center console. 2 anchor bolts holding seat belts
Remove the tunnel cover
Remove the two reverse wires
Remove the speedo cable
Take off the 4 prop shaft nuts and push back the shaft
I’ll post more pictures of the above process to follow

I got pulled over by a cop!
She was looking for a bank robber!
Cuff me I’m guilty!
That Mark 2 gets more looks than any other!
Keeps me going in the back round while working on the E Type!

Tough crowd in tonight! I don't think one post out of 74 is going off topic and it does include a photo of his Mk2.

And had the young lady been looking into an E Type not a Mark 2, David would have immediately added the photo to the Period and Glamour photos
Maybe Joey can arrange a repeat offence when trying out the five speed

Yes humor is needed in this current dreaded world!
That photo is around 40 years old ...you can tell by her gold friendship wing chain and no tattoos......
Now back on track.......There is no one left in the ETYPE HOBBY but MEN 55ish to the grave.
Lets enjoy the banter, because no one will care in say 10 years tops.
The transmission will be dropped this week and the process of installing the new will follow shortly after.
