Rear brake remote bleed kit, necessary?

Finished the engine now, and has started on the rear cradle/suspension/brakes. Local people with this model tell me to install a remote bleeding kit. My local parts guy doesn't have one, and I have to ask, is it necessary? It's not that I don't want it for originality reasons, it's not that kind of project, but why add the potential leak and in my physics bleed screws should be on top.
I've bled rear brakes on a XJ6, cumbersome, but doable. But is the E-Type so much smaller, is there simply not room to do it without lowering the rear cradle? The Service Manual just says to attach hose etc., so there should be room?

A remote bleeder setup for the rear is not at all necessary, but as a three time E type owner I would tell you I wouldn't be without a remote bleeder setup. It's so easy and convenient to do annual basic bleeds and bi-annual total fluid changes that you'll actually do them rather than the every 5 years or so thing that most people do.

You can bleed brakes on the E type without dropping the cradle, it's just very awkward to near impossible depending on the size of your hands. Of course you can just remove the front damper on each side of the IRS to gain good access, but that is a bit of a pain.

You don't need a kit. It's simple to make up your own remote bleeders.

Mikael, the remote bleed is useful as it is a one man operation. If you're confident of always having help then don’t bother. They are easy to make yourself instead of buying from a supplier. Just look at photos, see what bits are used and buy and fit them.

Personally I don't think it's a game changer.

Bleeding the rear brakes is easiest after removing the front spring; about 10 mins work on each side. Some do it with the shocker in situ but I can't do that.

I'm not convinced that fitting remote bleeders per se makes the bleeding process any easier as a 1 man job. To do it properly you need 2 people unless you have some sort of 1 way valve arrangement, or pressure bleed the brakes.

I use these, which makes 1 person bleeding with remote bleed lines a 5 minute job for the back brakes.

Yes, a one man job within easy reach is nice.

Check with Fosseway first that they are now supplying with the easy bleed nipple again as they were not able to get hold of them when I enquired a few months ago.
