#1 Help with roof lining

Post by malcolm » Mon Sep 05, 2022 11:36 am

I'm re-doing the headlining on my 2+2 - thing is, it has a webasto (unipart?) sunroof. Inside, round the edge of the sunroof, are batons all round which are covered with the headlining. Under the headlining I can feel screwheads which are presumably to remove these batons. But once you cover the batons, how do you rescrew back into place without making holes to access the screws?>? Anyone had experience of re-doing these?

Hi Malcolm

I'm sure we have a member here that spent many years fitting Webasto roofs. Maybe you can search for his threads? Or he may come forward to advise.

Regards
Stuart

Hi Malcolm......i think you will find that the headlining is fitted to the perimeter of the sunfoof opening first......then pulled up and out to the perimeter of the roof......Steve

Thanks Steve. problem is, there are batons alongside the opening that are wrapped separately, not just covered, but screwed in place. I'm actually getting a guy ("Jim the Trim") to do it, but we've been scratching our heads looking - he hasn't done an E with this type of fitting to a webasto roof before.

Could it be that

1. the trim is fitted behind and over the top of the batten
2. the batten is screwed on to the edge of the sunroof
3. then the trim is pushed into the narrow space between the bottom of the batten and the sunroof using a spatula or similar tool?
