For those looking for a replacement wooden steering wheel rim for Series 1, 1 ½ and 2 E Types, I can confirm that Nick Reeves is still in business, listing items on eBay under user name ner0809
I understand he has had an issue sourcing appropriate timber, but this is now resolved and he has produced an initial batch but the new stock is running out fast catching up with all the backorders, but more timber is on the way.

I contacted him via eBay by sending him a message about one of the items he had listed at the time asking about the wheel rims.

I received mine yesterday and am very happy with it.

Hi all, now I also got a steering wheel wood surrounding from Nick. It looks very nice.
I have couple of questions though.
I am thinking of using epoxy to glue the halfs together, is that suitable?
What kind of lacquer on the wood is the best?
I assume that the aluminium is bare with no anodizing, just polished, correct?

Yes the aluminium is just polished.
For the glue you must concider that the steering wheel is going to support sun and moon.
Why don't you simply ask Nick ?
If I had to do this, I used PU glue to join the 2 pieces and marine varnish for finishing
