#1 FHC gutter trim

Post by ANDJAG63 » Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:18 pm

Hello,
I'm repainting my '63 FHC and need to replace the gutter trims.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the best supplier to purchase these from?
I've been told that I should get them from a good supplier as they can be a challenge to fit and 'dodgy' aftermarket ones may not fit properly.

Thanks,
Neville Andrews

Are the originals good enough to get re-chromed? If they aren't too badly damaged they may be repairable. A much better bet than any of the aftermarket parts.

As a related example. My rear hood strip was damaged by the previous owner. I purchased a repro part ( best I could find and at considerable cost). Although it’s in place it clearly doesn’t fit well.

I’m considering sending my original part to a reputable firm for repair and re chrome.

Thanks for the replies. Not sure that the ones fitted were original or not.
They had been poorly repaired in the past and refitted with urethane rather than clipping back on.
I'll have another look at them and see if they are salvageable.

The aftermarket supply is likely all the same? I fit mine with some 3m panel bonding adhesive (very little) many soft clamps they look fabulous! they might clip on in a few spots if you are lucky. dry fit then, bend carefully, trim rear with a fine grinder and file. I bought mine from Welsh, very happy.
