#1 E type front brakes pulling to right

Post by C Kyte » Mon Feb 20, 2023 2:27 am

Hi all,
Last year I replaced every brake part on my Ser 2-2+2 1969. Both master cylinders re kitted [ mine have stainless steel sleeves in them], new re action valve, calipers front and rear overhauled, all new front and rear EBC disc rotors, EBC brake pads, all new flexible brake lines, all steel brake pipes made new, complete car, new reservoirs, and new brake fluid.
The brake work was completed end of September 2022. I took car for test drive and brakes good, NOT pulling.
In October I did a test run and I pulled into Servo for fuel, I stopped to wait for customer to move away, but he reversed back into me and hit me in RH side of rear bumper, I won't go into what I said but you can Imagin.
Anyway, I had to get bumper repaired and re chromed and it is all good now.
The car has done, 160 miles [235 Klm] since all brake work to car. On Sunday, 19th Feb 20234, I notice car pulling to right when applying brakes, this has me stuffed after all the work to brakes.

Anyone got any ideas what is causing it. I suspect LH front caliper stuck or sticking.

Chris.

Good place to start. Check you don't have a brake fluid leak onto the pads too.

Hi, just an update on my brakes pulling, I checked LH caliper pistons, and they are not stuck. I swapped RH pads to LH side and did a test drive. No pulling to right or left, next time pulled to left, then straight, then right etc. Brakes are not beaded in yet. I need to follow EBC instructions and complete beading in. So all good.

Thanks for comments.

Chris

Chris,
I would be interested in knowing what the EBC instructions say. I have always thought that new brake pads can be beaded in by doing several hard slow downs from 50-65 mph. I'm surprised after driving your car 160 miles the pads aren't beaded in.

Best,
John
