Bonnet spring adjustment

Hi, Looking for a bit of advice.
My bonnet when opened would stay in position. For obvious reasons it started when I replaced the electric fan from a kenlowe mounted on a steel frame in the nose of the bonnet to a revotec mounted behind the radiator. The bonnet is close to staying open or if it does stay open any movement will start it closing. So just needs a bit more assistance.
Rather than renewing the springs is there any adjustment on the hinge position to increase the force to keep open?
As I see the hinges are slotted but cannot work out which way would increase the force?

Hi Andy. A simple fix for your bonnet is to add a couple of nylon washers to where the mechanisms attach to the picture frame. Then replace the nut with a nyloc and tighten to the point where there is a bit of resistance to movement. This will provide enough friction to keep the bonnet up.

Adjustment to the hinges is only to adjust the fully open position to stop the bumpers touching the ground.

Thanks all for your comments.
I checked the screws and nuts for tightness and found the one at the top of the vertical section very loose. Nipped both sides up a little, now the bonnet stays up.
Will keep an eye on it, and may replace the springs at a later date.
