Routing for hard oil pressure line
#1 Routing for hard oil pressure line
Guys, I am going to have to fit a hard line oil pressure gauge and was wondering if anyone has managed to fit one with the car and dash fully built up and if so what route they took without drilling new holes in the bulkhead. Joy of joys.

You always have a route through the bulkhead via the unused left hand drive (or RHD) cover plates and steering column grommet. So long as the line then goes along the centre drop-down hinge line and has several loops in it, you won't have a problem with having an oil gauge in the same place as before.

Yes I guess I could pierce one of the redundant covers but it would sort of stand out . I will take a good look tomorrow again. The worst bit is getting through the double bulkhead.

Hi Andrew,
Mine leaves the gauge and goes to RH lower corner of fuse box, behind rev counter, and pops out with main engine wiring loom directly adjacent to and facing the engine/gearbox join (Red circle in photo). It then arcs to the right alongside the starter motor before meeting the sender at oil filter. I couldn’t tell you how to get it through the bulkhead I’m afraid but it’s totally covert.

Thanks Steve, thats great and gives me something to look at tomorrow. Do you find you can still easily swing down the centre instrument panel without the pipe getting knotted up?

Yes, as the pipe is left loose behind the gauge with a small amount of excess it tends to find its natural stored position. Haven't had any issues in over 20yrs. Nb. I don't have it coiled as in the link above, too messy in a small space
