Hi chaps,
Would we agree that this horn push badge looks original?

This is a shot of my recently restored growler motif on my 67 OTS, for a comparison:
I'm quite sure it is original as the back side exhibits a 9/66 date:
Sorry Dr.No007 it is not for sale. Good luck for your purchase. New authorized products are so costly

I’ve purchased it for, I think, a reasonable €40.
I’ll fit it to my repro assembly for a more authentic look.

Is this actually a horn push center or a S3 hub cap center
..the later can/could typically be found cheaper than the horn push center and modified to fit....Steve

Not sure Steve. Advertised as a Series 1 horn button. It looks as if it’ll do the job. If it’s a hubcap badge then I’ll fettle it to fit. The colour and detail looks correct. We’ll see when it arrives.

I bought a set of 4 Series 3 hubcaps with growler badges a little while ago. I just need to figure out how to turn the badges into horn pushes. I bought one previously but, on disassembly, the badge delaminated leaving it beyond repair.
My original horn push was broken, probably from ham-fisted disassembly. A long time ago I innocently bought a repro item from one of the usuals, not realising how poor they are. They really are a pale imitation of the real thing. Should I butcher the £80 repro item to make it look right? Or should I try to find a damaged original to repair!
Regards
Stuart

Complete originals, even in salvageable condition, are few and far between and mostly silly money. I came across this nice original badge, trawling through google images, on a euro parts site. It’ll turn my poor excuse for a reproduction into something resembling an original to look at. I’m fitting an E Type steering wheel, as they did in period, to my MK2 Coombs tribute.

Stuart, the hub cap badge can be used, but it takes quite a lot of care, as I found, to remove it without making a mess. Fortunately I’ve got proper original horn pushes now.
Maybe someone who’s done the job successfully can help us?

Even faded as it is, it is still the correct style, imho. And the repros tend to look faded anyway!
If someone wants to upgrade a repro to look correct then go for it. And if anyone says that looks faded, then ask how good they look after 60+ years of being out in the sun

Pete, if you’re interested, I’m happy to buy it and post to you. No idea what would happen your end for import duty, etc. but we can sort something out if you’d like to try.
