#1 Duxford Air show

Post by Mark Gordon » Tue Jul 26, 2011 1:32 pm

The east side of the Pond is the place to be this year with the recently completed Silverstone gathering and the air show at Duxford. I'm really sorry that I couldn't have been there! Here's the link: http://www.airshows.org.uk/2010/airshow ... eview.html

Mark - if you are interested and come here during the summer season ever, Duxford has regular historic shows, most recently with unfortunate consequences this month when a Mustang was lost, fortunately without injury. The show to which you refer was the Battle of Britain 70th anniversary, which was last September

I haven't been to England since the mid-1970's when I was stationed in Germany. On various trips, we toured from Inverness (I know, it's in Scotland!) to the Channel. I'm way overdue for another visit; I wish that it could have been this year for the 50th celebrations. The video was forwarded to me by a friend of mine who flew Skyraiders and Phantoms for the Navy in Vietnam. I didn't know when it was filmed, but I thought of my friends on the forum when I saw it. I thought that y'all might enjoy seeing it if you had not already. I rarely have the wisdom or experience to contribute to the chatter on the forum, but I really enjoy vicariously "traveling" with you and learning about this car that we all love so much.

I went back and looked at the video again. Somehow I missed the opening that clearly states that it's 70th Anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Britain, in 2010. It's still cool.
