Hello happy new year to all…. has anyone experience of wrapping or ceramic coating exhaust manifolds / down pipes to reduce under bonnet temperatures.
Best choice wrapping or coating?
Peter.

Hot topic...
I’m understanding that, like me,yr efi is still underway, you don’t have a heat issue just doing what would be smart while yr car is still in pieces?
I’m expecting efi to be hotter than it was with carbs, two reasons:
With carb’s the air intakes remove hot air from around the exhaust headers into the engine.
With efi the fueling will not be as rich. Excess fuel (wet exhaust) is very effective at removing heat.
I coated my headers inside and out with VHT Flameproof Silica Ceramic Coating; comes in spray cans. Or you can pay a small fortune to have exactly the same stuff applied for you. The secrets in the prep (sandblasting) and finish (baked in the oven). No idea how effective or lasting it will be.

All of my cars with tubular manifolds get Jet-Hot coated, which is a ceramic coating on the inside and outside of the pipes, polished to a bright finish on the outside. Looks great and lasts for decades. Started using it in the early '90s to mitigate heat damage to the fiberglass body in my Lotus Elans. Also eliminates the spotty discoloration issue on stainless pipes, if that's something that bother you.
Shown here on the lovely manifolds from ClassicFabs

BTW, the side frames and picture frame in this photo were powder coated in 2005 and are still pristine.
