Front wheel bearing

Hi
On slow speed I hear grinding that disappear when hitting the break.
I have new brake pads .

I think I need to replace the bearing on front wheels on my 67 fhc.
Any idea what is the part number ?

I would have to look at the spare parts catalogue or one of the usual suppliers websites....but its just as easy for you to do the same......that way your sure to get the correct parts rather than someone else giving you the wrong numbers.....Steve

Hello Abdul,
Once you have the bearings (Cups and Cones) removed from at least one Hub, take them along to a bearing supply business and have them supply replacements base on the example you supply; there will be a bearing number on both the Cup and Cone. These numbers are the bearing part number and the same numbers will apply to all bearing manufacturers of those particular Cup and Cone parts. These numbers are not the Jaguar Part number you would need when purchasing from a Jaguar Parts supplier.

It will be extremely unlikely that a bearing supplier won't have these bearings on the shelf, for they are a very common bearing. These bearings, inner and outer, are the same used on a common, small box trailer.

I prefer to buy all bearings required from a bearing supplier, simply because you know the brand you're getting and, or, you can specify the brand that you want. I'm happy with bearings made in England, Germany, Japan or America, but based on experience, I'll never use a Chinese made bearing. I've observed that many of the bearings supplied by some of the Jaguar Parts suppliers are Chinese.

Thank you for your help.
I managed to source a timken part. Replaced the bearing. And that did not solve the problem . I'm waiting for a new EBC brake pads. Maybe the one that I have is a bad quality one. Will check the emergency brake as well.

when I bought the car 6 months ago from a fellow forum member eddiecross , he replaced and rebuilt all the brake and suspension parts. I am sure he used new discs and pads.
I checked the front discs no rust. not sure about the rear though.

Try to identify from which wheel the noise is coming and then you can investigate further.
Does the grinding occur with the wheel jacked-up; this may give more information.
Are the calipers and dust shields secure?

I would suggest that it could simply be a slightly loose bearing and the new brake pads scratching until they are bedded in. Not affiliated with SNG Barratt but I have always bought directly from then as they supply Timken which is one of the best names in the business.

I can't tell if it's coming from the front or rear wheels.
No grinding from front wheels when jacked up..
Everything is secure on the front.
I took a picture of the rear brakes . Looks old and rusty.

I checked the bearing , it's timken part. New and seated.
I'll keep on driving the car and see if the grinding disappear.

Jack up the rear under the lower wishbone one side at a time...then you can turn each wheel which will turn the drive shaft and disc....then listen for any grinding...Steve

I see you also have the covers over the outboard UJs on the rear. These are known for fouling on the hub carrier.
