#1 oil not draining from exhaust cam box.

We have a problen with oil smoke from rear bank exhaust. It is ok at first then smokes after 3-4 minutes we think to oil build up . S1 4.2

There are large drain slots in the head under the came...have you recently had the head off and fitted a head gasket with no corresponding drain holes?...open the oil fill cap if its not draining it will be full.....typically when you switch the engine off you can hear the oil drain down

That's pretty unlikely.

If you're getting smoke out the back I'd be thinking about valve stem seals or piston ring failure.

If it's smoke off the surface of the manifold in the engine bay you have an oil leak; most likely the cam cover gasket.

:yeahthat: If the drain hole at the rear of the head or gasket is blocked the whole cam cover would fill up, not just at the rear 3 valves.

Checked with spare gasket and it has the same holes either way up.

The spare isn't the one you have fitted....is the oil draining or not?.
This isnt difficult..remove the covers and check that oil is draining
