Hi Folks! I've recently acquired a 1967 S1 4.2 2+2 Ex USA car imported back to the UK in the early 90s and ran for some time in it's original British racing green before being dismantled for a complete restoration except for the engine. Professionally converted to RHD with new dash and interior. New door skins, sills, S/SW exhaust etc were fitted. The car has been repainted into its current red at that time. From the copious documentation the restoration included a full overhaul of all suspension, braking equipment, gearbox and clutch together with a new wiring loom including a refurbished alternator. The car originally had Stromberg carbs but these have been replaced with a triple SU carbs and manifold. All the trimming and bumpers are as new apart from the rear light housings. The car drives and handles very well however I've a list of thing needing attention! So far I've sorted the tachometer by replacing the cam shaft generator, Replaced the battery and it's terminal cables. Replaced the choke warning light lens (bit of a trick for big hands!) The LH door hinge has a ridiculous amount of play and I've acquired a very good replacement. The RH door hinge has some play and again I found an as new replacement. I've spent a fair bit of time getting the bonnet to fit correctly with gaps even and a good fit to the sill. Discovered there are no horns fitted! The plan is to get all the out standing jobs done over the winter with a full respray in the same colour in the spring!

Welcome to the best place for all things E Type and well done on finding your car. Please click on your user name, top right, then you can add your real name (unless you really are called mashmole?!) and car type to your signature. That way we can address you by your name and reply appropriately with reference to your car when answering any questions. Get those horns fitted, for passing an MOT (a very useful annual check however competent you are at looking after the car) and for making other road users get out of the way of a far better car than they are driving!
Good luck and happy driving
Geoff
