It appears so.
Extract from the S3 launch Press Pack.

Other than the first few hundred 2+2s refered to earlier, the part number for S3 front dampers remained the same throughout production of both 2+2 and OTS cars.

The wheel rates come from the S3 launch press release.
This seems to be a treasure-trove, any chance it could be loaded into the knowledgebase?

Hi Colin,
It's about 120 pages to scan the whole document but all the specification data is reproduced verbatim in the Appendices of Porter's Definitive History, which I imagine most people who are interested in this level of detail will already have.
Re publishing it on the forum, not sure about copyright issues as it's currently still available in digital format commercially as part of a package of documents from some of the usual's or here, https://store.otpubs.com/jaguar-e-type- ... 1-to-1974/ . Presumably Jaguar Heritage get some income from sales.

Imo any claimed copyright of public press-released documents would be nonsensical. All the publications mentioned above; what you are paying for is the packaging; compilation, glossy paper and hard-covers. The content is free for you to disseminate in whatever manner you choose.

I’d love to know the real reason why the diameter of S3 bars was reduced after only 480 (?) cars. Was it that the larger bars were more ideal for suspension and handling but had to be quickly changed because the market wanted softer, more comfort? That difference between front and rear wheel rates is consistent with the impression I get from fast cornering. Larger bars are added to my wish list.
