E type S2 Valve clearance

Looking in the work shop manual of the series 1 &2 the only adjusting clearance for the valves that I found are ( in mm ) 0.10 mm inlet and 0.15 mm exaust.

Are those measures correct for a 1970 4.2 S2.

If yes, it means that it has the same Valve adjusting than a 3.8 s1 ?

The way to check is to see which cams you have fitted. If the front flange of the camshaft ( not the actual sprocket) has 2 bolt holes, then your clearances are correct . If, however, your engine has the later parabolic cams, the flange will have four bolt holes , and the clearances then for both inlet and exhaust should be in the range approximately of 0.25 to 0.3 mm

Hi Chrystopher, thank you very much for your reply. The camshafts are two bolts type, and the car is from 1970, so I asume that the setting is 0,10 and 0,15 mm.

Your car is from around the interim period when the parabolic cams were first introduced.

Christopher was basically correct in that all four bolt cams are parabolic but not all two-bolt cams are non-parabolic. There were a few parabolic two-bolt cams during the changeover period and these are identifed by a groove cut all the way around the outer edge of the flange. If you cams have this groove you should use the wider clearances.
