#1 Mirror tension rod

Post by jonr » Mon Apr 02, 2012 9:15 pm

Hi,
I am trying to find out how the lower part of the mirror tension rod is attached under the dashtop near the bulkhead. I bought the car as a "not finished project" and this is one of the parts I am not sure about. Do anyone have a picture? I have been looking in my different books and on the net but not been able to find anything...

Its a black bracket that bolts across the aperture to the wiper mechanism secured with 2 bolts and the rod passes through it.

Its the small black bracket just above the top of the centre instrument panel. Black bracket with a threaded boss in the middle.

Thank you, it seems like that one is missing here. That's the downside taking over someones not finished project. Found it in the parts manual now, BD24544.

Just had a look at the photo and my mirror tension bracket is nothing like that. I have two prongs welded onto the car that was put on during production and it's spot welded to the bulkhead. The tension rod fits between it with one nut on the bottom and one on the top.
