I have been helping a friend reinstall the rear suspension in his 66 series 1 coupe. One obvious difference in the rear end between the series 1 and the series 3 is the roll bar on the series 1.
Given that the rear suspension is basically the same on both cars does anyone know why Jaguar deemed that a roll bar was not needed on the rear of the series 3 - it certainly needs one.

A/ Probably because it'll handle (even) more poorly if you fit one?

Why? - everyone I have spoken to who have fitted one (I think from an XJS but not sure) indicate that it has improved roll etc in corners.
Thanks
