#1 What's this toe box hole for?!?

Post by chrisvine » Sun Jan 27, 2013 2:21 pm

Please can someone tell me what goes through the small hole (7/32") in the LHS/passenger toe box, the lower one in the photo below:

It's too small for any grommets supplied in the Autosparks set. I'm just about to install Koolmat and so access to this hole will be difficult once it's all bonded in place.

Thanks,
Chris

Bit of a long shot as I am not sure where series 2 pipes run... but if the hole is threaded - perhaps its for a brake pipe retaining clip?

Thanks Chris.

It's not threaded so I'm assuming I'll need to have access to it from inside the footwell.

The brake pipe fitting is on the other side of the servo unit and the hydraulic switch for brake lights screws into the fitting.

I guess it could be for the wires to the switch but I'd have expected it would then have a grommet. I'll look at the wiring looms to see where this wire comes out.

Chris.
I have just looked at mine and i just have an empty hole. I then looked at the original pictures i took before i rebuilt the car and the hole was filled with a rubber plug.

Its a threaded hole to take the bolt that secures the Earth cable from the Battery plus other Earth cables that run from the loom.

Probably something to do with the carbon cannister and hoses in that area on US S2 cars. A P-clip hole perhaps for the tank breather line? Not sure.

Well spotted I wanted to make sure that you're paying attention. My eyes were drawn to the obvious.

Thanks - I had read about a fuel breather for the US cars but being RHD I didn't pay much attention so the P-clip must be why it's there.

At least Harry's response saves me the trouble of asking another daft question when I get round to installing all the engine bay components.

The car was dismantled prior to digital cameras becoming widely available so I?ve only got a handful of vaguely useful ones to go on and what I can remember!
