#1 Misfire under strain

Post by JC » Sun Mar 31, 2013 9:41 pm

My SII has developed a misfire under strain - i.e. when I accelerate hard.

An initial inspection of the dizzie revealed a loose rotary arm. Further inspection showed that the advance spring pegs were bent and one was loose - springs were so loose that I was surprised it even drove. I refurbed the dizzie. Still no joy, but the job needed doing.

So I then replaced the other obvious candidates - coil, leads, plugs. Still no joy.

Any suggestions?

JC

Hello JC.
Check and see if there is water in any of the float chambers, That there is oil in the dash pots and that the vac advance/ retard is working.

Rotor arm and dizzy cap should be next on the list.
