I need to purchase a jack for my 3.8 FHC but I have a couple of questions which I hope someone can answer.
When I viewed the car in Jan 2012 I seem to recall noticing a bottle type jack to the side of the spare wheel and the tool case was the hinged lid type as I recall being fitted to the Mk 2 jag my father owned in the day - stupidly when I collected the car after payment and some months later I did not check the jack was there or had any notion of its importance.
I then had the car sitting in a corner of my workshop for a few months before getting round to doing some work and then realised it was missing... my folly because after understanding the present market for the Shelley LJ225 I can see some further profit was likely exercised after I purchased the car.
Suffice to say that I have received no response from the previous owner and life is too short to cry over my error or to start whipping myself for being something of an idiot !
Questions:
1) What I would like to know would this chassis number have been supplied with a shelley jack for sure? (have posted a wanted in the spares section).
2) Would the tool kit have been a wooden style tool box/with hinged lid or the roll up style canvas type? I've read in some accounts that it would have been a wooden style box..
3) I would add that the tool box is still with the car however not sure it is correct so wonder whether the tools fitted would have been different for an etype than for say a Mk 2 jag as some of the tools do not seem to be relevant to the etype?
4) I did manage to bid on an original etype tool roll (paying a fortune) but I will sell this if the roll type is incorrect to my car.

I think the cantilever jack (C20661) came in with 860647 (886247 for LHD) so your 62 FHC like my 885958 made around the same month should have the screw type. I think the toolbox was fitted to only a handful of the very earliest outside bonnet latch cars.
I brought one back from the US for Dave Kerr one time and was quite impressed by how light it was compared to how it looked.

Yes you did bring a jack back from the States but as soon as I saw it I knew I had been conned, it is only a two stage jack unlike the E-Type one which is a 3 stage.
Paid just short of ?180 for it about 5 years ago, waste of money.
