Loud horns

Without having done any scientific tests, I think the that 5", flat horns are the most audible. Don?t know what version of the 60s Jaguars it was fitted to. Perhpas I am wrong. Then there are the snail like ones the size of a grapefruit. Again, don?t know how loud they are or what cars had them originally. And then there are the modern, Lucas, horns which I don?t think are as loud. They are very similar to many modern horns which don?t sound very loud.
I only use the horn when I see that somebody is reversing in my direction, or that something potentially dangerous is about to happen when driving.
I would therefore like the loudest horns an all my Jaguars, regardless of what a Concours ref would say (I don?t attend such events anyway).

I have them on my Lotus Elan (they were standard on the SE models) and they are very loud!

Actually, I just have the original big old Lucas horns on my '62, they still work and they are plenty loud.

The FIAMMs are brilliant. I have them on my Fulvia and they make just the best noise ever. Not sure they're quite in character for the E-type - they perfectly suit the nature of a small and perky car like an Elan or a Fulvia though.

I had them on my Spitfire and at least once they saved me from being crushed when a bus started to merge into my lane. I kind of enjoyed driving that overgrown go kart and blasting a train horn at some bigger guy who was trying to muscle me off of the road!

I fitted a set of Fiamm air horns to my CB900 a long time ago. They were hidden neatly behind the fairing and certainly made car drivers aware I was around :D
