#1 Paul Brown Classic Jaguar

Post by Heuer » Thu Sep 12, 2013 10:45 am

At the suggestion of Forum member John (V12Epyte) I decided to go and see Paul Brown to get his opinion on my gearbox oil leak. I had never heard of Paul before as he does not advertise his services yet is only about 20 miles away from me in Ripley. I spent a couple of very enjoyable hours with Paul and benefited from his encyclopaedic knowledge of the very early cars, some of which I have shared in the 'Factory Fit' thread. Paul is clearly very passionate about the E-Type and his restorations are testament to that and his skills. A hidden gem who is up there with Harry Fulford, Angus Moss, Richard Smith, Ken Verity and Andrew Turvey when it comes to forensic analysis of these early cars.

Even though Paul put my car on the ramp, used a bore-scope to check the seal and discussed what the problem could be in detail he refused any payment sending me on my way with a list of things to check with a promise to take the car in if I was unable to solve the problem. (I was).

So a strong recommendation if you are looking for someone to work on your car, especially bodywork and paint as he has a fully equipped paint oven. His web site (designed by his daughter) is very cute as well! http://www.pbcj.co.uk/ I will add his name to our recommended suppliers list.
