Hi all, I am now the proud owner of my dream car.

It is a '66 S1 4.2 2+2 4 speed in Opalescent Dark Blue with a few (upgrade) mods including modern front seats, multi CD changer stereo, immobiliser and Kenlowe fan, stainless exhaust, etc.

Absolutely love the car but obviously has the odd niggle that I could do with advice on:

1. The wipers sometimes do a random 2 to 3 extra sweeps after being switched off? (They also seem to park quite high on the screen)

2. Independent inspector advised that rear left tyre is too close to suspension bump stop?

3. Passenger door doesn't shut properly unless great care taken to prevent rebound and same window surround lets wind roar in at front edge?

4. Difficult to wash without water ingress into each foot well - how will I keep it dry inside during wet weather?

Looking forwards to a few long runs next year. Pete

Welcome to the E-Type fold.

I'll leave others to answer your queries as I'm still awaiting completion of my bodyshell rebuild so haven't got to dealing with those kind of issues yet (although wish I had).

It all sounds very normal to me. The wind does come in , you mean your wipers only carry on for only three wipes, that's good, the water entering the car is normal and just needs bailing out on a regular basis.

Not sure about the wheel being near the bump stop. Is it the same on both sides?.

I know none of this helps but they all seem about standard faults or quirks of an E type except for the wheel issue. I am sure more useful comments will follow but welcome to the club and enjoy.

1. The park position can be adjusted from the bulkhead mounted thumb screw. They should park immediately after the remainder of the sweep on switch off. Check the adjustment.

2. That could be incorrect camber setting. You should get the camber checked. What width wheels and tyres are fitted?

3. First fix is to lubricate the door hinges which is invariably overlooked by almost everyone; if they are binding they can cause the door to rebound. Failing that you may need to adjust the door and catches - a time consuming job unless you know what you are doing.

4. Sounds like either the door drains are blocked/missing or the seals are fitted incorrectly.

Unfortunately I am working overseas for a while so after getting acquainted with the car throughout September I have now had to leave it in storage but will be looking to sort all those little niggles in due course.

I will endeavour to get a few pics posted etc. and keep you posted as and when I get to enjoy turning more petrol into smiles.
