No, although in an OTS who cares if the boot board is a bit high under the trim? Depending on brand and whether brand new or part worn it can also get very tight diameter-wise, not just widthways.

I think it's OK in an S3. Lard-arse looks have their advantages...

I have a 205/65/15 spare tire in my '63 FHC. It fits fine, a little snug but not a problem to drop in and center over the fastener hub.

As Pete says - No.

That is if you have it on a rim, but the 205/70/15 tyre on its own will fit.

Our rims are 6.5 inches, so this makes it not possible. When we do our long European tours we carry a bare 205/70/15 in the spare wheel well and fill it full of spares and tools we need, including tyre weld. Being empty, you can fit a surprising number of parts inside it.

The car's main tyres are only a couple of years old and on the premise that unless it was a major failure, punctures can usually be fixed, at least we have a matching spare in the event of a major failure. We tend to be travelling with a group of friends, so in the event this did happen out in the wilds, we have means to get to a tyre fitter.

Or in my experience yes, and on a 6 1/2" MWS rim too. I did have to lathe up an extension piece for the big screw that holds it in place.

Before answering I tried a 205/70 on a 6" Minilite in the boot of the 62 and the 70 and it fit neither. Both cars have their original boot bodywork.

It was the spare I had used fine on the S3 OTS but barely squeezed under the inner wing panel on the right was a bugger to extract between there and the tank flange. It came closer to fitting in the 70 but more importantly, in both the 62 and 70 it was too high at the back so that board was too high. I'm not saying you couldn't drive round with the wheel in position but I'd be surprised if the wheel actually fitted with the boards flush. It would be interesting to know if the 'It fits' cars had replacement boot floors?
