#1 Rare/unseen E-Type factory productions photos

Post by Jaguar_Man » Tue Jul 01, 2014 5:04 pm

Came across this short video which showed one or two photos which I have never seen before, one in particular showing a line of S3 OTS in the factory with covers partly over them. These can't be found anywhere on the Jaguar Heritage website, and I haven't seen these shots before on the internet. The one of the roadster unpainted on its side is the one I have seen numerous times. I suspect production photos of E-Types at Browns Lane are very few and far between. Would be great to see rare shots of Es on the production line, not just series 1s, but also the 2+2 models.

I also recall browsing through Jaguar Monthly magazine recently and came across a rare photo of a couple of E-Types (if I remember, a FHC and a roadster) out in the car park at the factory side by side with a line of other more vintage cars. It gave the source of the photo as being on the Heritage site, but there was no sign of it (nor of a few others photos I saw) on their website. I often find many, many photos in magazines/books that you will never find on the internet. People have this image of the net as being the place where anything and everything that you can find within a book/magazine and other literature will be found online, which isn't true.

I was able to view without any problem. Very interesting photos, but the video quality is low-resolution almost to the point of being blurry. Would be nice to see a cleaned up version, either as another video or as a slide show.

Planning on getting E-Type No. 3 as soon as possible....

Hard to determine where those photos came from, especially the factory shots, but looks like they are poor copies that have been taken from a website somewhere rather than directly scanned from a book. You'd think those photos would be on the Jaguar Heritage site somewhere, or on some other Jaguar site, but I haven't come across them.

Speaking of the Jaguar factory, I also came across this very brief period clip showing a series 1 outside what looks like the Coventry factory (or maybe not), driving up to the camera and stopping. According to xkedata, the car shown (reg 6515VC) is a 1962 3.8 FHC. I wonder if there is more of the film out there anywhere?. Quite rare to see early footage in colour too.
