#1 Kelsey Hayes servo seal

Post by Sarthe72 » Wed Jul 30, 2014 1:48 pm

When the E-type was rebuilt we couldn't find one and thought them extinct so put the rather battered old one back between the bulkhead and the servo. Found a new one the other day for under ?8 from David Manners. A slight difference in size after over 20 years!

I used pipe lagging for B&Q for a quid.

I am p***ed off to admit that on looking at it again it is ruddy pipe insulation sold as the seal. Ripped off again.

I managed to get a good deal on the internal seals from a place in the US; they do parts for Ford T Birds which used the same KH unit in 1958 to 1960.

When I restored my bellows I found a place in Hinckley that had original kits. They were selling them for around ?20 each. They used to get them from the place that SNGB took over in the States so the kits dried up pretty quickly. The only real part you need is the seal so it's good to know you can still get them. Here is a question, the bellows are called Kelsey Hayes yet my bellows has no mention of Kelsey Hayes it has Dunlop on it. So is it a KH or Dunlop?
