OK...New blades and new arms.

center of the blades will not clear screen

Now that I am actually using an Etype in all weathers it has become apparent how useless they are

Any solution?

Hello vipergts, have you tried any of the rain repellents?
When taking delivery of my S2 FHC we had to drive through quite heavy rain and the wipers did a good job with standard blades. Since then I have used one of the repellents and barely need to use the wipers, especially at speed, yet the screen stays pretty clear and the wipers finish the job off well.
Can't suggest reason why your wipers aren't doing a decent job, but I would recommend the repellent route. Which ones did you buy?

The driver side blade struggles to wake up from its curved park position but does eventually straighten a bit after half an hour of wiping. The centre one is usuall fine and the passenger one can lift a but at speed. I would just drive blind and ask your passenger for a Sit. Rep. every so often.

If you have the cheap wiper blades they will not efficiently clear the screen no matter what you do. You need either a set of original Aeramic blades or a set of the current Aeramic style reproductions which cost more than twice the price of the others: http://www.sngbarratt.com/ProductDetail ... e3dd6dedf3 You might also want to consider the SNGB uprated wiper arms: http://www.sngbarratt.com/ProductDetail ... 4b29ba917d

Alternatively you need a set of the clip on aerodynamic 'wings' which push the blade onto the screen at speed. These were made by Frohlich in Germany and are period items I took off an E-Type:

how come, has it become your daily car?
i have used the rain repellents as mentioned, and agree they do improve vision. i keep some in the car all the time, as i also find the wipers good for nothing :!:

Rain-X wiped on the screen and Rain-X Washer Additive in the bottle work briliantly. It is a good idea to fit the intermittent wiper module if you are using Rain-X to clear the screen at low speed: viewtopic.php?t=4718

Bought some years ago........That's too precious to get wet :) Thanks for the info guys.

I bought mine from SNG......are you suggesting they do different types.

Not become a daily entirely but I'll use it on the basis that it can't deteriorate any more than it currently is already

No, telling! They offer two types - the cheap as chips and about as useful ones: http://www.sngbarratt.com/ProductDetail ... aeb8a49632
The better ones: http://www.sngbarratt.com/ProductDetail ... e3dd6dedf3
The original NLA ones (Aeramic or Rainbow) - search them out: viewtopic.php?p=35991&highlight=aeramic#35991

I recently fitted the 'uprated' stainless wiper arms and new blades from Barratts. I used them in a downpour last Sunday and they did the job very well.
