Clive
You use a 'key' to open the door to get in.
You pull out a 'choke' to start the car if it is cold.
You press a button on the dash to start the car.
If you lock up the brakes when slowing down, try cadence braking or just take your foot off the brake and pray...no ABS to help you.
As an ex-M5 driver, learn to leave more than 2 foot between you and the car in front. Chances are he can stop quicker than you can now.
If the back end comes out when accelerating around a corner, take your foot off the gas and steer into the slide, or close your eyes and pray. No electronic wizardry to help you.
If it gets hot in the summer in the cabin, there's a special handle on each door that provides the required air-conditioning.
If it mists up in the cabin on a cold, damp November day, stop breathing for a while...it will clear.
I think that answers most of the basics. Oh, and get a smart, witty and instant reply ready for the inevitable question from the girlies 'As you drive an E Type does this mean you've got very small tackle?'

Clive, The black scalloped etc. thing is the Steering Locknut :drive: Remember you can also adjust the column for rake (at least you can in the superior 4.2 model !!) If there isn't one with the car, get an owner's handbook (?10-?12 on ebay - this is a 'must' and a Haynes manual is a good companion, even if you're not heavily into diy (ebay again, though you get them occasionally cheaper than the usual ?25 or so asking price). These will at least let you get the names of things (ask me how I know :blinks: ) Oh, and what will your first upgrade be to start bringing it up to the spec of the more desirable 4.2 - brakes, electrics, cooling, gearbox, seats....??
