#1 Why is my add deleted!
I am very surprised that my for sale threat has been deleted! As a paying member of this forum i am very disappointed that my add has been removed with out letting me know. I will hereby cancel my member ship. If we are going to treat members like this please delete my member ship to.

Paying member ? I'm not aware that anyone pays for membership of the forum other than in contributing advice & information. Did you adhere to the clearly stated rules stuck to the top of the Wanted / For Sale thread ?

To quote Groucho Marks: I wouldn't want to belong to any sort of club that would have people like me as a member...

What advert was this? We never delete anything without first giving the poster the opportunity to respond. The only rule we have for adverts is a price must be included rather than "offers" and someone, not necessarily Angus, Mark or myself, will invariably make the point in a thread post.
As others have pointed out we are an independent Forum, kindly hosted on E Type UK servers without charge, and we have an affiliation with the E-Type Club. This means being a member of the Club does not automatically give you access to the Forum just as you do not need to be a member of the Club to post here.
I have checked all 31 of your posts back to 9th August 2014 and can find no trace of an advert being placed. Please let me have details of your advert, date posted and in which thread and I will investigate further. Alternatively put your advert back up.

Might have been better to ask what happened to the ad (if anything) before ranting

Then let David have the information requested above, so he can investigate for you.

Can't explain it. One member has PM'd me to say he remembers seeing it. Neither Angus, Mark or myself deleted it and unless you did so by mistake, neither did you. Those are the only culprits as the Forum software or the server would not be able to do so. It is mystery. Please put it back up and we will watch it like Hawks to see if anything odd is going on.

David and others : this problem has turned up , not often, but more than once, at another BB which I frequent ( Classic British Flight Simulation), where not only individual posts but whole threads have been swallowed. I'm afraid I do not have details of what went wrong, but it is by no means unique particularly with older style BBs such as the php type

I have just had a post deleted.
It was a correction for a previous post, so once that one had been corrected mine became irrelavent.
However, what is interesting is that there is no record of me ever posting it.

We have to do some pruning of posts in particular where, for some reason I have not yet been able to track down, we end up with a double post. I also prune posts in Collectors Corner and Factory Fit. Comments are fine and encouraged but after a week or so I delete them unless they are directly relevant otherwise the thread would become overly long - the Period Pictures thread is already 93 pages long and it would have been twice that if we did not keep it on topic. There are now almost 60,000 threads here so management is becoming a major task.
It is a fine balance of keeping the Forum usable for those that follow without wanting to stifle comment and contribution. Incidentally I trust everyone realises you can delete your own post but not those of others - there is a [X] to the right of the post to allow you to do it.
