You could make a version of the wiper motor from the series 2 fit. The motor was used on several other cars during the late sixties - I think the Hillman Hunter had it . It is exactly the same as the E-type one except for the drive gear which is specific to the car - it has to do with stroke and parking position - which you could modify with a bit of trial and error. The mounting plates are available from Richard Smith - or Ebay.

hope this helps Barrie

Hello Frenchi , please revise that to Hillman Avenger - and also Triumph Dolomite . You will see when you search.

#5 Wiper motors

Post by 154WHU » Wed Nov 11, 2015 7:41 pm

Hi
I posted a thread about why the the wiper motors for series 1 car are so expensive ,some time back.
after a bit of research I found that a wiper motor from a Saab V4 was the same as a series 2. It too needs the correct cog wheel fitting which is apparently avaliable from CMC as well as the adpater plate(Check Chris Rookes Book A kind of loving)
Cost ?34.00 on E bay plus of course the above bits & time.
My series 1 wiper motor went missing in one of the many moves that the car has had ?
Therefore I do not have a part to exchange.
So my conclusion , is that someone some where is making a killing.
So cross reference of parts is very important.

Frenchi

Any Triumph up to about 1970 had a similar motor. But obviously the drives will be different in each case. So try searching under GT6 Mk1&2, Herald, Vitesse. Spitffire Mk1-3, TR4 to early TR6 and all the 1960s saloons as well.

Cheers
