Is Harry from E Type UK coming as I believe he hosts the forum. Or have I got that wrong.

The Forum is indeed hosted on the E Type UK servers. Harry is based in the USA but he gets over here fairly regularly so he may come if the dates match.

David, what is the history of the forum, how long has it been running, what was the first post. Have you always been the Administrator, Whose idea was it, who have been the key players. Is this the first event organised by the forum or has it been done many times.
It would interesting seeing as it the first forum event That I know of in my short time here

Tony

Started out in 2007 as Harry's idea to help bring traffic to his E Type UK venture. I joined the Forum in March 2008 and posted a few Upgrade suggestions based on my experience. After a few months Harry asked me if I would Administer (unpaid!) it on his behalf as he did not have the time to do it himself plus, by his own admission, knew nothing of computers and software. I agreed providing it remained non-commercial and we did not accept adverts. To his credit Harry agreed to step back and not use the Forum to promote his company even though he pays the server costs. In return I promised to help generate traffic to the Forum by adding as much value as I could even when no one else was posting. Eventually this generated the buzz you see today.

My regular postings are not done out of ego but simply to ensure there is something new here every day, even if it only a picture of a pouting lady with an E-Type! The visitor traffic helps push E Type UK up the Google search scores and in turn this means if you do any search on 'E-Type' I guarantee a link to the Forum will be near the top of the results. The Forum is on the E-Type UK server which also hosts Harry's web site so he benefits as being the first place to look if you want a car and his company name is there on every result - a true symbiotic relationship and long may it continue. It means I have kept the promise I made all those years ago.

The relationship between the Forum and the E-Type Club is that of an affiliation. Harry's web site was originally designed by Porter Press and a link to the Club seemed the right thing to do for credibility (all this before my time by the way). Being a member here does not mean you have to be a member of the Club and vice versa. In the event we remain fairly independent and the goal of making this a Forum owned by the members seems to have been successful although it has been a lot of work - ask my wife! Hint: when you meet Jill, the curly haired blonde from Sheffield, at Bicester please thank her for allowing me to play on the Forum for so long.

Actually I thought the rest of the forum stuff was just a thinly-veiled excuse for being able to do this...

Yes , well done David. I personally post a lot of questions and hopefully a few answers as well, but either way, I find this one of the best places on the Internet. When I am lying on my back, feeling my 50 plus years and do not know the answer to an issue, I can post here and by morning I have the answer from all corners of the World. Fantastic and long may it last, I know it will.

Anyway, the Bicester trip is non Political, so if you have any questions on other matters please start another thread. This is for Forum members to get together and enjoy their E types.

But David, didn't you say Jill would be at a different Bicester

You could have fun with a parade of E Types turning up at Bicester Village to meet the WAGS after their day of retail therapy. Will Stephanie assign Mr Plum to escort them for the day?

I feel a bit guilty having learned the history of the forum because I have mentioned a few times CMC, a competitor of Etype UK, so firstly to say a thank you to Harry for creating this website and he should know my CMC connection goes back quite a few years and long before joining this forum, so is in no way a snub to his business.

Also wish to say that my motoring enthusiasm finds a home in Lotus, BMW, Porsche and other marques but this forum has a quality all to itself, people are friendly, helpful and the depth of knowledge is staggering - I have learnt so much visiting the forum and my appreciation runs deep for all the effort by those who indeed increase the value in Etype ownership by their dedication.

David deserves a special vote of thanks... :D :D

Oh good . well it looks like its going to be a great turn out , thanks for all you fellow Forum members for getting behind this. The opportunity to put a face to the name is very exciting. Bicester told me the on line booking link will open tommorrow, and there should be a link titled "E type Forum" which should be pretty straightforward to book through. Any issues then please let me know

Kent

Good to see your name added to the list, do you think some of the local suspects might wish to join us? - I cannot recall his name but drives the white drop head in all weathers...

this is the link to page where you will be able to purchase your tickets it now says at the end of January. But I would check back every few days. I see they have the E type forum up there and will add a link for us.
