#1 A warning pass it around

Car Crime
Important message from Crime Stoppers, please read...

While driving on a rural end of the roadway I saw an infant car seat on the side of the road with a blanket draped over it. For whatever reason, I did not stop, even though I had all kinds of thoughts running through my head. But when I got to my destination, I called the Police and they were going to check it out. But, this is what the Police advised even before they went out there to check....
"There are several things to be aware of ... Gangs and thieves mostly from Eastern Europe are now plotting different ways to get a person (mostly women)to stop their vehicle and get out of the car.
"There is a gang initiation reported by the local Police where gangs are placing a car seat by the road...with a fake baby in it...waiting for a woman, of course, to stop and check on the abandoned baby. "Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or grassy (field) area and the person -- woman -- will be dragged into the woods, beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man, they're usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too.
DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!! DIAL 9-9-9 AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT DON'T EVEN SLOW DOWN.
"IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND EGGS ARE THROWN AT YOUR WINDSCREEN, DO NOT STOP TO CHECK THE CAR, DO NOT OPERATE THE WIPER AND DO NOT SPRAY ANY WATER BECAUSE EGGS MIXED WITH WATER BECOME MILKY AND BLOCK YOUR VISION UP TO 92.5%, AND YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO STOP BESIDE THE ROAD AND BECOME A VICTIM OF THESE CRIMINALS.
THIS IS A NEW TECHNIQUE USED BY GANGS, SO PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES. THESE ARE DESPERATE TIMES AND THESE ARE UNSAVOURY INDIVIDUALS WHO WILL TAKE DESPERATE MEASURES TO GET WHAT THEY WANT.

SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES TO BE CAREFUL AND AWARE OF EVERYTHING AROUND THEM SO AS NOT TO BECOME A VICTIM.

Warning..!!!!
Recently we parked in a public car park. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for petrol. Luckily my friend told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car. Then we received this email yesterday.

WARNING FROM POLICE
THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE -- A NEW WAY TO DO CAR-JACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)!
Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating... You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine put it into reverse.
When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you stop and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.
When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off.
They practically run you over as they speed off in your car.
And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.
So now the car-jacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!
BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.
If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, lock your doors and just drive away!!
Remove the paper later. And be thankful that youread this e-mail.. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women.
A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.
Please tell your friends

quite possibly a round robin, BUT, anything can happen nowadays and it was worth pointing it out, even if it just serves to remind us how easy it is to get done over.

I'm aware most have already in the Pub Chat Category about the supermarket scam. In no way do I dismiss above warnings, but just to keep things on the brighter side:

It sounds to me to be from the US. Women in the UK have handbags not "purses" and as others have suggested, the style of writing is hardly that of officialdom . In any event, can anyone recall a single instance of the rape and murder type of crime suggested ? I am sure if this had happened in the UK there would have been widespread publicity

Hoax or not, it does sound like the sort of thing that could happen, so worth thinking about. In fact, even if it is a hoax, it could have planted the idea in someone's head.

Our Neighbourhood Watch team circulated this a few weeks ago, supposedly from Nottinghamshire Police. Came across to me as Urban (or rural!) legend simply because of the way it was worded. Besides if I went to my car parked nose in I would remove the paper before getting in. If the car was parked nose out I would probably not notice it until I was under way.

what if you were parked nose in facing the doorway of the Supermarket? You would approach the car from the front and start up to reverse before seeing the sticker?

If the mere fact that something could happen were grounds for using even one of my decreasing number of neurones being the least bit worried, then I would never get out of bed.

On the other hand, thinking about it, since millions die in bed every year, I'm obviously a reckless idiot ever getting into bed...
