BTW I also know some places that sell petrol and oil if you're stuck.

Hi Frenchi

I think the number you quote is the Lockheed casting number; mine is 3231-822C.

If you value your life you should at least re rubber the servo. If there is fluid in the drum it must have leaked past one of the seals, so I think this confirms it is leaking.

I have rebuilt a few of the boosters and I'm pretty sure the kits are "one size fits all".

Buy one from SNGB or Manners etc.

Frenchi, not worth the hassle. Speak to Andy at Hutsons where they will exchange yours for a fully restored one with ssteel bore. Chances are yours is shot and you will only find out when you have rebuilt it, fitted and bled the system.

We never rebuild them.

Fair comment. The only ones I rebuild are ones that have already been SS or brass sleeved in the past. The cast iron ones are universally stuffed.

The genuine Lockheed slave cylinder body is available on special order from SNG for about ?120. (10894).

With a repair kit it is much cheaper than a reconditioned unit and if cast iron has lasted for the last 50 years it should outlast us.

I rebuilt mine with the refurb kit and it works perfectly well. Are you saying it is likely to start leaking fluid, presumably into the booster?

No, you should be ok if it is the original bore and not pitted. If it is pitted and the seal wipes over that area, it could fail early.

OK, thanks Angus. It did not appear to be pitted. Fingers crossed!
