All,
The head bolts I got from SNG - one complete set, 10 shorts, 3 longs, one long doweled- I'd like to know which way round to use them ?
The 10 and the three all have small dowels on one end. The doweled one has a thick dowel and a thin dowel.
I do believe on the short ones the small doweled end goes towards the block (short stud 4.2), because it limits the stud against the block ? Being a bit too lazy to look in a book: torque for the studs ?
Positions etc. are clear...
Carsten

Hi Pete,
Oh yeah :-)
Now, I had a look myself in reality, and its very simple: the lower thicker end of the bolts goes towards the block. They'set and torqued against this part or the bolt.
The upper end has no limiter, it would not make sense.
Regarding torque, Mr. Haynes says 75 NM for the nuts if you have an old style gasket and 80 for a new style gasket.
That does not say anything about the bolts....Need a look in the J. book...
