Post by Mich7920 » Thu Apr 21, 2016 4:49 pm

Hi all,

I restor my heater motor and I loose the sequence of the shims witch are at the top and bottom of the rotor. Stupid, isn't it !
So I have :
2 thin metallic shim
1 thick fiber shim
2 thin fiber shim
4 thin rubber shim

If somebody did this beter than I, I'll appreciate some HELP !
Thanks
Mich

I recently restored my blower motor but I did not take photos or notes. I do recall there were no rubber shims and I think the ones you have are what is left of the grommets on the mounting plate or the grommet for the cable entry. The fibre shims go on the shafts first followed by the metal washers which would then run on the bearings. The different size fibre washers are to allow you to position the rotor correctly and centre the brushes on the armature. I would try one thick shim on one end and the two thin on the other. Put the case back together and see if the rotor turns freely. If not you may need to move one of the thin shims to sit with the thick shim and try again. Should not be difficult to find a position that works. Use lithium grease to hold the shims/washers in place whilst you are working on it. A dab of lithium grease on the shafts would also be a good idea.
