#1 GEARBOX SUPPORT

Post by Ricko » Thu Apr 28, 2016 5:27 pm

I have recently acquired a series 3 roadster 1971 manual which is in good nick, just wanting a few little jobs doing.
One of these jobs was to stop a leaking speedo seal which we did successfully.
Since then I hear an aggravating mild clunking underneath which is im sure because I've not set the loading on the gear mounting spring as I found it.
Can anyone help here with a torque setting, measurement or is it just a case of turning it off a few turns (its tight up at present as we thought we had originally) and see if the noise disappears?
