Notifications do not seem to be working whilst we are between servers so best to not rely on them. Bracket should be black dubbed with red, which will be your blood when you try installing it!

What a fascinating set of posts. I had no idea there was so much to learn about the humble conduit or the various wire routings. My car (built may 62) had a red conduit when I bought her. The mounting lugs were missing but otherwise the conduit is in fair condition but I replaced with a new black one when I re did the leads and cap. Now I have a lovely red one i shall pop it in although I have no intention of loosening any head studs so it will float. in comparison to the old red one the red is a bit lighter but that is due to grime on the old one. Dimensionally the new one seems spot on. So well done to SNGB and thanks to Tadek and all those who got the new red one made so well.

Yes I was a little unsure about undoing the two head nuts but obviously this has been done by those who have fitted new conduits, without incident I presume.

I did mine with no problem including removing the nut securing later style conduit on stud 3, which I replaced and torqued up before removing nuts 2 and 5. Only takes a few minutes to do provided you have threaded the HT leads through the conduit beforehand. Bear in mind that before the lifting brackets were fitted by the Factory the service centres had to install the special engine lifting plate tool on four adjacent studs and did so without any reported problems. As long as you don't drive the car or leave the nuts off for an extended period no harm will be done.

I decided not to release my nuts! Just made two ally brackets that slide over the nuts and to which the conduit is bolted. Not perfect but holds in place just fine. When I eventually remove the head for work I will install properly but I would say that random releasing of cylinder head bolts may be unwise albeit thathat was done to fit lift brackets.

My car was at some point fitted with longer studs and the later engine lifting brackets. When I fit the conduit I am going to remove these however I will leave the longer studs in place until it becomes necessary to remove the cylinder head. (or can they be cut down?) if not I propose to fit a spacer in place of the brackets. I have the correct spark plug caps to fit but I think I'll have to make up new leads as mine look too short to go through the conduit and loop out to the plugs. I'm a bit confused about the placement of my leads (November 61) currently they are sleeved and run over the inlet cam cover.

Thanks David. Mine is R2562 so well inside the first arrangement. Looks like I'll have to start from scratch. I'll get back onto the SNGB site and see if I can order the spacers and ring along with the conduit.
