#1 What brakes

Post by jrevel » Tue Aug 23, 2016 10:58 am

Hi

I've purchased a series 2 etype for complete restoration. It would appear that the car is very much a Frankenstein of parts.

Ive stripped down IRS (which appeared to fit correctly) and these were the brakes that came off the car. They are Jag brakes but what brakes? Can anyone help identify them? Are they OK to refurb and put back on the car?

Thank you in advance

I certainly don't recognise them from my IRS strip down.
I'm not sure if SNGB have S2 rear brakes, but what they do have is a later unit (XJS, XJ6?) that fits although it has metric unions so you'll need to modify pipework. Fit remote bleed whilst you're doing the work.

As Geoff says they don't look like the ones I took off my 69 series 2 either.
If it's any help, I have a complete Series 2 rear brake set up available and front brakes in excellent condition as I'm intending to upgrade to Fosseway front and rear.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along shortly and tell you what you have in the pictures.
