#1 Rear light under riders

Post by Bernie2015 » Sat Aug 20, 2016 9:37 am

Hi all, I have bought chrome under riders for the rear lights on my series 2 but cant work out how they fit. There is a place for a bolt to be screwed into the under rider itself but cant work out how it fits to the lamp unit - any help much appreciated.

I expect Bernie means the finisher, BD35741, there is a cutout behind the light, the bolt passes through this and screws into the finisher.

Thanks but it doesn't show what the long securing bolt attaches to on the body of the car before screwing into the finisher

Having searched a few parts catalogues, this bracket doesn't seem to be listed anywhere. On my car, it is a U shaped bracket, welded onto the rear valance, it sits behind the light mounting panel, the U section is around 1" long and item 39 http://www.sngbarratt.com/CatalogueProd ... 887&a=7617 is supposed to sit on the inboard side of the bracket, you then do the bolt up to hold the part in place.

I think I need the 'u' shaped bracket mentioned but I can't find it listed anywhere. All I can see in the second photo is the head of the self tapping screw Im afraid.

I have been having great difficulty getting the reinforcing washer - Part 39 on the SNG diagram
http://www.sngbarratt.com/CatalogueProd ... 887&a=7617

Without it I can't mount the finisher either. Has anyone got a source for this, or dimensions?

Mark,

If you have the U shaped bracket, you only need a washer that will sit behind that and allow the bolt to pull the finisher in tight.

If you don't have the U shaped bracket, you really need a photo from someone who has a car with the rear end partially dismantled, I'd suggest approaching Angus, if he doesn't have one now, he no doubt will have soon.

Neither the bracket nor the washer would be difficult to fabricate, you just need some pics and dimensions.

No tips except perseverance I'm afraid. Where did you manage to source the washer from or did you get one made? Could you let me have the dimensions before you finally bolt it on?
