#1 1948 Jaguar restoration

Post by goodoldgrandad » Tue Jan 03, 2017 7:31 pm

With my e-type tucked away for the winter I've begun work on restoring my 1948 MK4. It has an ignition timing Advance control on the steering wheel, but the cable/bracket at the bottom end of the steering column (which goes to the Distributor to Advance or Retard the ignition timing) has dropped off. It can go back on in a number of positions, but there is no information in the Service or User manuals. Does anyone have a drawing or information on the correct position of the cable, lever, and stop bar located at the end of the steering shaft in the engine bay ? Thanks.

If you get in touch with an Australian called Ed Nantes who frequents the Jaglovers board, he will almost certainly be able to tell you as he is very expert on the pushrod cars
