Vehicle ID tags location
#1 Vehicle ID tags location
Gents,
I need to attach these two tags to my S2. The PO had bagged and tagged them, but I could use a good picture showing exactly where and how they were attached.
The bottom one goes somewhere on the rear bulkhead (behind the license plate?) the top one I think goes on the driver side door frame?
Also, as you can see, one is pretty deteriorated. Can replacements be purchased? :edit: I saw a source mentioned of CMC. Dont know how to reach them. Any clues?
Thanks much for any help you can provide.
Regards,
Bob t

Bob,
The top one is for behind the windshield, on the a-post. (my guess is only the US had those, on the left on lhd cars. Could somebody please confirm that?)
The bottom one is the body number tag, it is riveted on the body from the rear, behind the tag, on the rh side. You should be able to locate
The original rivet holes?

Correct, the top one is on the A post about half way down the inside, mine is on the left hand side as mine was a LHD XKE S2.nefematic wrote:Bob,

Thank you, gentlemen.
Addendum: I will bring some closure to my own questions by posting this pic of the body tag mounted on a car

That looks hauntingly familiar! Sadly I think it fell off when the shell was dipped to strip and derust it.Tbob wrote:Thank you, gentlemen.
